The narrator learns that it is important to take time to listen to his grandpa because he is wise and has very important lessons and stories for him. I think America does a poor job of respecting the older generation and I just don't understand why? Do you?
I agree. The fast paced world of today is starkly different that what our elders grew up in. I think it is hard for both parties to see the other's perspective when they try to relate. I just had an interesting conversation with my grandmother about this. She views the internet and technology as making people not truly connect to each other. I on the other hand see it as a great way to get in touch with whoever, whenever. I have talked to people that I had not seen in years. It is an interesting debate and I think we can learn from both stances.
Hi Mrs.Pogue.This is Jade from 1st period again.I think you are right. We should respect the older generation because they are wise and understanding. This story tells about how someone from the older generations tells stories about his childhood, or even made up stories!I just wish that was how a families are.The grandparents tell stories, then they get passed from generation to generation. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Well, hope you had a good Thursday and see you tomorrow!
Jayson Thompson 7th period. I think that we should listen to our elderly and be grateful that we have them to tell us about the old days and how we should be thankful for everything that we have now, because we have more advanced technology.
Colbymaulden7 He learned that he needs to keep the storys passing along like my grandfather used to tell my nana like the one of my grandfather working on the railroad
Mercedes Freyman 7,I think I agree with Ms.Pogue We should all respect our elderly because we can learn very much from the older People from the past, because they are wise and know MORE than us. Which is why kids can't teachers until they go through school because you. Can't teach with out learning.
Marisol prieto Im in 7 period I think that grandpa likes his stories and that he likes to tel them to his friends and relatives.we learned that he had a special person to who tell his stories and that has a really nice person.
Gabrielle Arb 7 I would say that he learned that you need to have some imagination in life. Sometimes if you don't life can seem a little boring or dull. It is important because you always want to have some excitement in your life.
Mary sigmon 7th period I think we should respect are elder generation because they are older and much wiser then we are and that should teach us a lot that have learned in the past and from there childhood, so I think we should respect and listen to our elders.
Chance garner 7period The narrator learned that you should listen to your elders and connect the past with yourself and you will be okay in life because your elders have already passed in the test of life so they know what they're talking about. I especially think that young children today don't listen to their elders because they think they are always right
Katherine tapia 7period I think he learned to be brave and family is really important to him .I think its an I'm portent lesson because it shows us to never give up and learn from our mistakes
This is Christian Garner from seventh period.I think that Grampa Jerimiah teaches the narrator to respect the little things in life, including the past. Because grampa Jerimiah appreciated the little stories.Like that's why he kept telling stories his whole life.
Dlena salinaz 7th periods I think the narrator learns that his grandpa stories are about people you have died and not to be scared of death.I think that the stories are important to all of us because he tells stories that have been passed down.I think that was like today still story telling but everybody just watch tv.
Tori Tucker, pogue 7. He learned that there is always a way to get out of a problem when you are stuck. It should important to us because it teaches us a very valuable lesson when you get stuck.
Abigail medina 7th period I though that it was so sad when the grandpa died . I also though that the relationship between the grandpa and the narrator aka the boy was very touching.
Ashley Harrison 7th period Mrs. Pogue The narrator learns that it is hard to loose somebody you love and that you should tell stories about your past but you can also make up some of it a little bit because it can help you learn a little bit. I also think it is important to all of us because it helps us know that it can be hard for someone you love to die. Also that it is an important lesson that you make sure that you express your feelings about somebody that you love before it is to late to do it.
Jacob Burley 8 th period He learned people from the past can help us because they have experience.I think that is an important lesson to us so if we are having a problem we know who to look to.
Caitlyn Novak 8 period. I think the lesson the narrator learned is that older people are a lot wiser than us,and they might have a story that teaches us to make sure we don't make the same mistake they did or some other person that they are talking about. I agree that that's a good thing for all of us to learn. So we can make sure we don't make that same mistake over again. Even tho the stories may be boring they can teach us an available lesson.
Ariana Perez 8th period, He learned that he should have paid more attention to his grandpa when he was alive because he gave people a lot of advise and he teaches good lessons.I think that it's an important lesson to all of us because now people hardly listen to older people that have good lessons to teach all of the younger people.
Stephanie favila -8. The narrator learns that by telling the storys you can compare your feelings with the storys your telling. Because it's an older story with older pictures. The important lesson for us is that you should always live your life to the fullest
Kianna Dugan 8th period I think the narrator learned that he should listen and respect his grandpa, because he is very smart "wise" you could say, and tells good stories of peoples past times that teaches the narrator and Macon lesons. And I agree with ms.Pogue when she said some people don't respect our elders generation, they are very wise and we could learn from them, they have so much to teach us.
Ethan Putnam period 8 I think that he learned that he needed to listen to the stories so that he could see the struggles that the other people went through so he won't make the same mistakes. We need this for the same reason, so that we don't make the same mistakes either other wise the earth would be in chaos
Andrew Rangel 8th The narrator learns to listen to his grandpa when he is telling stories because when he is in hard times he can go back and remember the story. This story affects everybody because we have all lost somebody we loved. In this story we learned to listen to our grandparents when they are telling stories so we can go back to the stories if we need to.
That you can tell stories to anyone you want, because grandpa Jeremiah said that you can build a bridge and walk over it and tell as many stories as you want but if you work to hard you will break.
This is Maribel from eighth period and I agree with Miss Pogue you should listen to the wise adults because if don't learn what they know and those people are gone we won't know what to do. Also what the narrator learns from Grandpa Jeremiah is that if you face something that is to hard you should go back and see how people ahead of you accomplished what you need to do.
I think the narrator learned to respect and listen to your elder. Because you may use it in your life time and you never know how long you will have an elder
Macy Hartman-8 The narrator learned by the end of the story that it is important to listen to stories who are being told to you even though they might not be very interesting. That way those stories can be passed down for those people who might be interested.
Jaden Jensen from 8th period I think the narrator learned that it is important to listen to your elders. I do agree because we can all learn from those people.
Omar balmaceda 8 you should listen to your elders before it's to late it's important because when it's to late your ganna be sorry buts what's the point now you should take advantage while you have time.
Samantha Ayala 8 The narrator learns that grandpa's stories are not not just ordinary stories, they are stories that truly come from grandpa's heart. My reasoning is he tells them to all of the kids, but mostly Macon. An example is no matter what Macon always wants to listen to grandpa's wonderful stories. The very important lesson that we all understand that grandpa loves his stories just like they are are very important thing in his life.
Lynnze' Sprowls 8th Period I think that the narrator learns that people from the past did much harder things than people now and they still survived. So whenever young people with things like ipads run in to something hard, they can remember how people from the past survived. Anybody now can learn that same lesson.
Moriah Strickland 1st Period I think that the narrator learned that older people have stories just like us.Because i think we all should listen to the older generation before they die along with their stories.I think that if we need help we should go to the older generation.I agree with Grandpa Jeremiah when he said that if we are about to break then we should cross our bridge and see how the people of our past did not break.I have a question for Mrs.Pogue. Why did Grandpa Jeremiah did he have to die, i know that it is part of nature, but why did Grandpa Jeremiah die? Also what and how did Ellie's parents die?
Moriah - I'm just guessing, but I think Grandpa Jeremiah had to die in the end to teach the narrator that life is short and that we need to listen to those older than us because we never know when we might lose them. The whole life is short idea. Not sure how Ellie's parents died. It doesn't tell us in the story. I love that you blogged on your own time. Way to go Moriah.

Morgan Cabra 1st period - Grandpa Jeremiah taught the narrator an important lesson of life because your grandparents lived longer and have more experiences and know more than we do now.We should always listen to our grandparents because they could be telling us things that we need to know in the future. I think that kids today have a problem with listining to thier grandparents because they want to think they are right and have people telling them they are wrong.
Paige Cabra from your first period- I agree with Moriah because if our generation doesn't know how to do things like planting and reharvesting plants or anything like that we should learn from stories or the things the elder tell us because without all of the information from them we would'nt be able to do half of the things we do now. Also if we don't learn important things like that what would we do when one of our energy supplies goes out, what will we do then?
Madison Cherryhomes 1st period- Grandpa Jeremiah raised the narrator by telling stories. He told the boy that they were bridges to the past and that the stories would let you see their struggles and show you how not to make the same mistake.

Claudia Torres 1st period-I agree with Paige because the lesson that the narrator learned from grandpa jermiah is that it is not that easy in life some times it is hard. You well have problems and arrguments. It also means to that we don't know as many things as our older people.
Granpa Jerimiah taught the narrator you have to love what you have while you have it.He also taught him stories always mean something, and the storis show people that you can be scared but you can over come it.This is an important for all of us because it shows us to let go,be strong, and never give up.The narrator learns all these things and we should too.
Celeste Sanchez!1 period Well i think he learned that he could use what Grandpa Jermiah said about his songs to compare your problems to theirs then see how they got threw their problem!:D
The narrator learns that the past is important and that you should learn about and tell the next generation about it teach them about it and tellthe next generation about what the past was like when you where a kid
Natalia Aviles 1st period-I think that the narrator learned that his grandpa's stories have meaning and wisdom behind them. We should pay attention to this and learn that elders have lived and experienced more than we have, and we treat them as,i hate to say it, stupid old people. We should take this lesson and learn to respect them.
Izaak Woodruff period 1,the lesson that the narrator learns is that when a family member is dying you should spend as much time as possible with that person and never say anything mean to them because you never know when they will die because they might die right after you say something mean to them.I think it is important because it teaches you what to say to a person when they are dying.
I think I agree with Ms.Pogue, I think that this story teaches people to respect their elders because they are wise and understanding and we should show our respect to them. It is a story about someone from the older generation, telling stories to the younger ones, and turns out that these "stories" that he is telling are really songs! Amazing isn't it? well, I will see you tomorrow Ms.Pogue!
Sierra Morrison 1st period i think that Myers should listen to Grandpa Jeremiah's stories because they might be quotes or things that he needs to know about.
